Passionate call from Prime Minister Sobotka toward collaboration between Czech and Japan in the high value added industry
On June 28, JETRO jointly held "the Czech Republic-Japan Business Investment Forum 2017" with CzechInvest, the Czech Chamber of Commerce and Investment and the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tokyo on the occasion of a visit to Japan by Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka and Minister of Industry and Trade Jiří Havlíček. JETRO Chairman and CEO Hiroyuki Ishige welcomed the mission led by Prime Minister Sobotka in his opening remarks, and mentioned the forms of collaboration between the Czech Republic and Japan which has been seen in some events such as a seminar jointly held with CzechInvest at CeBIT as well as the proactive promotion of the Internet of Things (IoT) by the Czech government. Following that, Prime Minister Sobotka stated in his keynote speech that he expects collaboration with Japan in value-added industries including IoT, and also touched on the importance of the economic partnership agreement between the EU and Japan.
Among some presenters, Director General Murakami of JETRO Prague made a presentation on the Czech business environment and the trends of Japanese companies in the Czech Republic. Through their presentations and a panel discussion in which CzechInvest CEO Karel Kučera took part, the audience received a clear message on the attractiveness of investment in the Czech Republic.
After the seminar, a network reception and B-to-B meeting were held for the mission of the Czech Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and lively discussions were engaged in by business people from both countries.

Affirmation of cooperative relations between CzechInvest and JETRO
The day before the seminar on June 27, an action plan for the year 2017, which was based on a memorandum of understanding between JETRO and CzechInvest, was exchanged between the two organizations in the presence of Prime Ministers Sobotoka and Abe in the Cabinet Office in Tokyo. Both sides affirmed that they will work together to enhance activities in cutting-edge fields such as IoT in addition to conventional trade and investment.

Business meetings in Kyoto and Hiroshima
From June 29 to 30, a network meeting and a round-table meeting were respectively held by the mission led by Minister Havlíček, the former in Kyoto and the latter in Hiroshima. The representatives from the Czech government and companies engaged in active interaction with business people from both cities.
