MOU singed with Tokyo University of Foreign Studies

On July 8, JETRO concluded a memorandum of understanding (MOU) concerning comprehensive collaboration with the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. On the basis of this MOU, JETRO will aim at contributing to the development of Japan and its local communities through the following activities: strengthening linguistic support for Japanese companies expanding business overseas, promoting surveys and studies related to Africa, providing useful information to Japanese companies from the results of surveys and studies and fostering global human resources.
Having entered into agreements of international exchange with 150 organizations from 57 countries and regions, the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies has been focusing efforts on cultivating multilingual global human resources capable of responding to global diversification, and it was also selected for the “Top Global University Project” promoted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. JETRO will collaborate with the Global Japan Office* of this university to refer its graduates and former international students who have returned to their home countries to Japanese companies which need overseas human resources able to speak Japanese. The university has also been carrying out research activities related to the history, cultures and religions of Africa at its Research Institute for Language and Culture of Asia and Africa. The collaboration between this university, IDE-JETRO and JETRO’s Overseas Research Department will provide wide-ranging and multi-layered services under the successful combination of academic research on Africa and dissemination of information on business geared toward Japanese companies.
